There is a vacancy for a full time Apprentice Leisure Assistant at the Council's Leisure Centre.
The position is a great opportunity to enter and receive a thorough grounding in the Leisure and Recreation Industry. There will be plenty of opportunity to develop both general and supervisory skills within the staff development programme.
You will be required to work on a rota system that will include daytime, evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working.
You must have a general knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations; a current first aid qualification and sports coaching qualifications would be an advantage.
The post will involve setting up and dismantling sports equipment, receptionist duties, general cleaning duties and supervising birthday parties. The successful applicant will be required to perform lifeguarding duties and must hold a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Award. If you do not currently hold this Award, you will be required to pass it in the first 3 months of your employment; any candidate failing to attain the Award in that period of time, will be removed from the apprenticeship process and the contract will be terminated. To assist in the recruitment process those candidates successful at the interview stage who do not hold a current RLSS Award, will be subject to a pre-requisite swim test.
