In Social Care we often buy the services to support our most vulnerable Conwy residents from private care agencies and registered charities. Social Care Quality Standards are responsible for making sure these agencies are delivering the standards and quality of care that we expect.
This interesting and rewarding role will see the successful candidate conduct monitoring visits to residential and nursing homes, domiciliary care agencies, 24 hours supported living projects for people with a disability and other adult shared lives projects. You will be expected to produce valued reports based on your observations of the home environment and staff practice, conversations with staff and clients and desk top reviews of documentation, such as care plans and risk assessments. At all times you will be considering the safeguarding of our most vulnerable people and be able to make recommendations to the care agency when you feel they can improve the standard of service.
This role will be a 6 month fixed-term secondment to cover an existing officer’s position whilst they undertake a student placement between February and July 2025. It is a great opportunity for you to try out the role and to build up experience.
We are looking for someone who is able to work off their own initiative, has a good working knowledge of care and care settings and is willing to challenge care providers when improvements to standards are needed. The post holder should have knowledge of RISCA and the Social Services and Wellbeing Act.
The successful candidate will be expected to have their own means of transport and be able to travel throughout Conwy County. The ability to carry out duties outside of normal working hours may occasionally be required.
An ability to converse with a wide range of people and reply to simple correspondence in Welsh is desirable and in English is essential.
Due to the nature of the work, it will be necessary to obtain a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
